It is with the greatest of sadness that we deliver to you the news of the death of our colleague and friend Joe Moniz. Joe Moniz has passed away on Feb 11, 2015 at the age of 60.
Joe came to Canada in 1968 with his mother Maria and Sister at age 14 from Furnas, Sao Miguel in the Azores Islands. Joe grew up in a very traditional Portuguese family environment and maintained much of that culture with his family throughout his life. He was very proud of his heritage as all Portuguese are.
A & B Rail enjoyed the benefits of Joe’s work for over 30 years and all who worked with Joe understood the incredibly valuable contribution he made to the company. Joe valued respect and lived by this value every moment of every day. Joe was known for his excellence and his flawless execution, he unknowingly inspired, trained and mentored me and many hundreds of other coworkers. He worked tirelessly for my father before me and many others. We all learned from Joe by doing it Joe’s way, which always proved to be the best way. He was one of the best track builders to ever work for A&B Rail. Everyone who knew him or worked with him would same the same thing. He truly lived by his remarkable values and ethics day in and day out.
Joe Loved his work, but all he wanted, was to be home and soak up the love from his family that he dearly treasured and is entire life was built around. Joe was a great dad and a great husband, and even though words did not come easy, through his actions he constantly proved he was a loving father and husband. The willing sacrifices he made to the betterment of his family.
A man, a co-worker, a friend, a father and a husband. Thanks for all of the immeasurable and invaluable life lessons. A&B Rail offers our condolences to his sons Joseph and Brian, his wife Angie and sister Hilaria.
