At A&B Rail Services, we are currently seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to support our Production, Construction, and Maintenance Teams.

This Administrative Assistant will be responsible various administrative tasks such as collecting weekly timesheets, preparing and inputting data for the processing of payroll, booking flights and hotel accommodations, and preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes and following up on actions for departmental meetings. The Administrative Assistant will have a proven academic excellence, strong technical ability, and passion for client services that will enable us to further establish our position as one of the leading Railway Contractors throughout Canada.

The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • A high school diploma with a minimum of 2 years’ of administrative experience (equivalencies with experience will be considered)
  • An office administration or equivalent program diploma would be an asset
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset

At A&B Rail Services, we are currently seeking Signals Foreman out of our Bolton, ON location who will be is responsible for managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals.  The Signal Foreman must ensure safety, quality, profitability, and scheduling, resulting in customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s license or equivalent
  • AZ or DZ an asset
  • Machine operator experience an asset
  • Boom truck certificate and experience an asset.
  • High School Diploma
  • Railway or construction experience would be an asset.
  • Valid certification in Canadian Railway Operating Rules.
  • Training in First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, CSTS, and other mandatory courses as required.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Organize, develop, and communicate schedules and goals to crew members.
  • Strong customer relations skills.
  • Use computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Perform physical work in a field environment including bending, lifting.
  • Safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent vision and hearing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Lead a team and motivate workers.
  • Exercise sound judgment and give clear direction.
  • Work effectively in a team environment as a contributing team player.

Signalman

At A&B Rail Services, we are currently seeking a Signalman out of our Bolton, ON location who reports to the Employee-in-Charge, Signal Maintainer/Mechanic, Lead Hand, and Foreman. The Signalman program has multiple levels.  Signalman 1 leads to possible promotion to Signalman 2, 3, and 4. Signalman 1 is a merit level position, performing duties as required under supervision.

The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • AZ or DZ an asset
  • Machine operator experience an asset
  • Boom truck certificate and experience an asset.
  • A high school diploma with at least 1 years work experience
  • A Valid Operator’s License
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous electronics training would be an asset.
  • Previous railway or construction experience would be an asset
  • Know and comply with customer specific Safety Rules, Practices and Policies.
  • Has demonstrated the ability and willingness to merit advancement.
  • Valid CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive and Ground Disturbance level 2 courses are considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of survey grades and construction methods.
  • Ability to read instructions, follow technical specifications and grade plans.
  • Ability to perform various types of physical labour including moderate to heavy lifting, standing, bending, shovelling, etc.
  • Sound understanding of safety regulations, safe work practices and work procedures and be capable of assisting in maintaining safe work sites.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Perform duties in inclement weather, with possible exposure to severe weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of various related equipment and tools.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and mental alertness in a variety of situations.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
