Safety

With Unyielding Integrity, We Are Committed to Safety.

At A&B Rail Services, we proudly boast a growing safety culture. It is supported by a group of skilled and dedicated people who are genuinely committed to ensuring the highest level of safety for themselves, each other, and our customers.

How do we know this?

As an employer, one of our primary obligations is to provide a safe environment for our team to achieve strong results. Our people know that they have the right and the support to stop work if they see a potentially dangerous situation. We promote this culture through open communication channels such as safety campaigns and programs, ongoing training, and leadership by example.

Building This Commitment

Our Health and Safety team develops numerous safety campaigns and programs presented in a variety of formats both internally and externally to reach our employees in the office and in the field. Some examples include:

  • Hazard Assessment
  • Lock-out/Tag-out
  • Looking Out for Each Other
  • What’s Your “WHY?”

Training and education is provided to all levels of field and office staff . We continue to invest in our track protection and switching employees with a formal mentorship program, a comprehensive supervisory development program, and online training modules that equip our teams with the safety fundamentals for our industry and work. We also offer extensive outsourced specialized training for our employees through:

  • CROR (Canadian Railway Operating Rules)
  • Track Inspection Training
  • Standard First Aid
  • H2S Alive
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Certified Equipment Safety Training
  • Safety training through Alberta Construction Safety Association.
  • WHIMS
  • Basic Machine Operator Training
