The Project
A&B Rail Services was hired to build an LRT line extension to Saddle Ridge Circle, the City of Calgary’s North East LRT system.
Deliverables:
- 5,500 track meters of new double track – direct fixation & ballasted track
- 195 track meters of concrete plinth construction
- 1 ballasted No. 8 crossover
- 5 major shutdown road crossing installations
- Flashbutt welding plant
The Result
A satisfied client and another quality project completed. The successful completion of a project of this size on time is a prime example of A&B Rail Services’ expertise, capabilities, and commitment to Doing It Right. There were a number of significant challenges which came up during this project that A&B Rail Services was able to overcome. Some of these included managing crews and coordinating materials and logistics within high traffic areas. For the City of Calgary’s North East LRT system, the C-train can now travel from the McKnight-Westwinds station to Saddletowne Circle. This means the system can now support an additional 8000 passengers daily and support a new transit oriented development. For A&B Rail Services, it means another satisfied customer in our 50-year journey to become Canada’s largest, most-experienced and most sought-after rail services company.
