The Project
A&B Rail Services was hired by CN to construct a double track Shoofly at their Rivers Subdivision in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Deliverables:
- 4,900 track feet of ballasted track construction
- Unload, distribute and place owner supplied ballast and materials
- Retire two mainline turnouts
- Cutover tracks to connect mainline and shoofly tracks
- Destress all newly constructed track
- Thermite/Flashbutt weld joints in Shoofly and live track
The Result
A satisfied client and another quality project completed. There were a number of significant challenges during the project. CN Rail’s track was always in service with up to 20 trains passing by the mainline while crews worked adjacent to the railway’s operating tracks. As the safety of our crews, customers, and live trains remain top priority, a number of flagmen were on site to ensure all workers, equipment and materials were “Clear of the Track”.
